DM Social Theme

We need to make ourselves a theme for this new site – this group will be those interested in either getting their hands dirty, or for initial planning discussion!

    I think a good way to try and arrive on a theme is to look at all the other themes on the net and pick out aspects of those themes and layouts that we like. From that we can build a master bullet point list of what we want. For example I like the theme design I use on http://WWW.DesktopMasters.com it is 3D, professional and clean. I am referring mostly to the layout of the navbar and the bottom portion of the header.

    Another thing I like is the recently added floating status bar at the bottom of http://www.myspace.com I think our bar at the top should float or stick like that.

    I like the stacking on our site on the left but think the content should be to the left of the group logo/admins column not the right.

    I don’t like 3d bubbly boxes and bars. Shine and glow are good, though. If anything is 3d, I think it should be flat-like.

    I am good with flat 3D. Much like this theme. I think this theme is a bit light though and crowded in the layout in places. Please give me some examples of themes with shine and glow that you like.

    http://invoicemachine.com/home is a tad dark for me. unless its my machine. its just black. and a lighter black when you hover your mouse over it

    the myspace page is cool. its not in the way.
    its just like a blue line on the bottom djpaul that doesnt move when you scroll the page up and down.
    it holds an instant msnger for myspace users .

    I think that light shades of gray with dark blue and some other shades of blue and red and gred and orange and pink and purple.. would be really far out! Like wow man!

    But for us, perhaps light and dark shades of gray with some other nice colors like dark blue all fitted in there. I did make some notes on layout that I want to document and I will shortly.

    but then it wont be any different to the main D$M page. which is shades of grey. tho i did notice on some of the buddypress pages out there, they all seem to gravitate to blue…and blues a nice colour, but doesnt fit us per se.

    what about rainbow colours ? any colour you like, that isnt the default grey colour. i like this grey on this theme..dont like the orange tho..heh

    Well when I said shades of gray I was thinking more toward like we are using now. Not ALL grey like the main site. That is just WAY too much Gray.
