DJPaul created the forum topic No-programming ways to help in the group BuddyPress development:
Here’s a list of ways you can contribute to BuddyPress without programming. This was written by Andy Peatling, BuddyPress’ lead developer, in reply to a thread on the BuddyPress forums complaining why things hadn’t been finished yet:”Report bugs, fix bugs, submit patches, program new features on the roadmap, write documentation, answer questions on the forums.”

DJPaul posted on the forum topic 02) Some sort of wiki in the group BuddyPress development:
People have shared user accounts / shared cookies working across WPMU/Mediawiki installations, but if XMLRPC is possible, that’d be a nice way to pull the wiki content into a BuddyPress page.

Monoxide created the forum topic 02) Some sort of wiki in the group BuddyPress development:
I doubt XML-RPC is the way to go.XML-RPC is expensive (since it’s based around a full-blown network protocol), you’ll be making alot of requests to http://localhost/mediawiki or wherever, which will then go through all of mediawiki’s processing, database access, then you need to do your own processing to display the results. It may or may not [...]

Actions and Filters are something that Wordpress uses, and is really powerful. A two paragraph explanation is at http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API#Hooks.2C_Actions_and_Filters.BuddyPress also has its own IRC channel. It is mainly for development discussion rather than “how do I install etc” stuff. irc.freenode.net:6667, #buddypress-dev.

A local web server/PHP/MySQL installation is a must. Here’s one that seems good, though there is nothing stopping you installing each component manually or using what you have already: http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html

1) Rather than upload a picture on Group or Profile creation, have a gallery of built-in pictures people can pick from to use.2) Some sort of wiki. HINT: see if MediaWiki can be used by something called “XMLRPC”.
